The 820 Catalina 2 Swivel Stool combines durable welded steel construction with customizable seating and smooth swivel performance for residential and commercial interiors. Its 16-gauge, 1.25-inch tubular steel frame features solid MIG-welded joints, is independently tested to support up to 550 lbs., and meets applicable ANSI/BIFMA furniture standards.
Choose from multiple frame options and a solid oak or maple wood seat, commercial-grade fabric or vinyl upholstery, or Customer’s Own Material (COM). Upholstered seats feature 2.5 inches of high-resilience, U.S.-made foam. The Catalina 2 is available with our S-360 swivel for continuous 360-degree rotation or an optional Memory swivel that rotates 180 degrees and returns to its original position.
Built to order in Holland, Michigan, the Catalina 2 is available in counter, bar, and extra-tall seat heights. For dining-height seating, the 620 Catalina 1 Stationary Chair carries the same recognizable Catalina X-back design into a stationary chair. The Catalina 2 is also available in our XL Seating Series for Big & Tall.

The Catalina 2 features intersecting steel rails that form its recognizable X-back, also commonly described as a cross-back design. The open spaces between the rails keep the back visually open while giving the stool a distinct geometric profile from multiple angles.
When multiple Catalina stools are arranged along a kitchen island, counter, or bar, the repeating X-back creates a consistent design element from seat to seat. The open steel back also allows surrounding finishes, countertops, and other materials to remain visible through the stool.
The Catalina 2 is defined by its distinctive X-back, formed by intersecting steel rails that create a recognizable geometric profile while keeping the backrest visually open. The same Catalina design is shared with the 620 Catalina 1 Stationary Chair, allowing the X-back look to carry from dining-height seating to counter, bar, and extra-tall applications.
Unlike the Jackie family’s horizontal ladder back or the Contessa family’s vertical slat back, the Catalina uses intersecting rails as its defining design element. This clear distinction helps coordinate seating by product family while maintaining a consistent welded-steel construction approach across the collection.
Clean powder-coated frames with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water, then wipe dry. Use a microfiber cloth and stainless-safe cleaner on the 304 stainless steel frame. Avoid steel wool, harsh abrasives, and aggressive chemical cleaners.
Follow the cleaning guidance provided for the selected fabric or vinyl and address spills promptly. Clean oak or maple seats with a soft, lightly dampened cloth, then dry the surface. Avoid standing moisture and abrasive products that could affect the finish.
What is the 820 Catalina 2?
The 820 Catalina 2 is a customizable indoor swivel stool with a distinctive X-back, welded steel frame, and solid wood or upholstered seat. It is available in counter, bar, extra-tall, and select custom seat heights.
How does the Catalina 2 compare with the Jackie 2 and Contessa 2?
The Catalina 2 uses an intersecting X-back. The Jackie 2 uses a horizontal ladder back, while the Contessa 2 uses vertical slats. All three are separate Holland Bar Stool seating designs with welded steel construction and swivel seating options.
What seat heights are available?
Standard seat heights are 25, 30, and 36 inches. Custom seat heights from 25 to 36 inches are also available upon request. Heights below 25 inches or above 36 inches are not available.
Does the Catalina 2 swivel all the way around?
The standard S-360 swivel provides continuous 360-degree rotation. The optional Memory swivel rotates 180 degrees and returns the seat to its original position.
How much weight does the stool support?
The 820 Catalina 2 is independently tested to support up to 550 lbs.
What seat materials are available?

Is the 304 Stainless Steel 820 and outdoor stool?
No. The 820 Catalina 2 is an indoor stool, including the 304 Stainless Steel version. Outdoor applications require the separately specified OD820 SS Catalina 2.
Is there a coordinating dining chair?
Yes. The 620 Catalina 1 is a stationary dining chair with the same Catalina X-back design.
Is the Catalina 2 available in an XL version?
Yes. The X820 XL Catalina 2 is a separate model within Holland Bar Stool’s XL seating collection.
Does the stool require assembly?
Yes. Light assembly is required.

What warranty coverage applies?
Covered stool components carry a 5-year limited residential warranty and a 3-year limited commercial-use warranty under the applicable terms. Upholstery and wood or metal finishes are excluded.
